NaNoWriMo Day Eighteen

A few more words forward progress on the NaNoNovel.

Have I said that I'm counting on these next few days to get caught up? I am.

Hopefully I will.

And today I did write. Just a little - only 1,141 words.

Which brings my new word count to 23,006. That is only 6,994 behind the target for today.

My, how those numbers of words behind grows. So quickly.

No, I'm not giving up, yet. I should have 30,000 words today and I don't. By the end of Monday I should have 35,000 words. That is my goal. To be at 35,000 words by Monday. More would be better, but I'll take caught up.

Yes, this NaNoWriMo is kicking my ass. Which took a beating last month from my body because I overlooked some gentler warning signs that I needed to slow down and sleep more. So - here I am. Past the middle of NaNoWriMo and still looking for a win. Despite all the odds. And, no, I don't have a short week next week. Working in what I do and where I put a large percent of my work time, I will be working a regular work week next week, after I get back home on Tuesday.

NaNoWriMo I love you and it's not flowing as well this year. I hope I can get into the groove this weekend because I still like my story - though I've just written a bit of fluff and over description which will need some major editing.

My characters aren't happy that I left them alone for nearly three days. I'm not sure if they don't know the story, if I can't hear it, or if the muse stepped away for a short break and we're awaiting her return. But it's not quite "there" yet.

So - in tonight's non-dramatic writing. Juliette has finally appeared! Her furniture has been loaded into the house and she arrived on a motorcycle, in skin tight black (I'm sure they're leather but that hasn't been confirmed yet) clothing. Hank is trying to check her out and thinks he's hiding - but she can see him an waves. He knocks over a lamp trying to pull further into the shadows.

Oh, and Juliette has a black cat sitting on the back of her red velvet sofa in the window. The cat has one white paw and seems to know Hank, as well.

Well, well! We'll see what happens next. What secrets will Juliette uncover? And how? And what's up with the little black cat with alluring eyes named Violet?
