NaNoWriMo 2011: Day One

My official word count at the end of the first day of NaNoWriMo 2011 is 2472.

I planned to write a bit more than that tonight - but time and traffic and available seats at the place we ended up were not in our favor. But I did still get more written and I'm content with the output.

This does leave me with a bank of 800 words for a shortfall day, which I'm sure will come.

I also want to say that I like the story so far. It's also good to see how my writing has developed during these past three years. And I want to give a 'shout out' to Ariel Gore with a big smile of gratitude for all of her guidance and the wonderful writing group she has attracted and facilitated - which has helped me develop as a writer. Thank you, Ariel, and all of my fellow Wayward Writers.

So far, we have met two of the primary characters. The basic primary setting has been shown and there is a little bit of insight into one character.

As I mentioned after my first 1700 words, sometimes I literally have to shut my eyes and shut my internal ear to the internal critic .... and type. Let the fingers fly and the story unfold.

The characters took a coffee break with one of them high on a ladder. I have a feeling she won't be around long.
